Koh Samet

With no real roads to speak off, the main way of accessing the island resorts is by speedboat or ferry. If buy ferry, expect to be transported 50 metres offshore by a small 8 x 3 metre open flat bottom boat. Be prepaid get your feet wet and sandy as you walk on the beach to your resort or to a alley entrance for a short walk to a taxi. Taxi's are pickup trucks that go up and down the headlands. Do be prepared to hang on !

Transport options on the island include mopeds, motorbikes and ATVs. Personally, ATV's are the go especially if the road is muddy and you need the extra power uphill.

The resorts are tighly packed just off the beach. The main beach is Haad Saikaew, Ao Phai, Ao Nuan, Ao Wongduern and Ao Phrao on the islands western side.

There is no medical services on the island except basic phramacy services.

The easiet way is to take a ferry (1 hr) or speedboat (30 mins) from the main land town of Bang Pae, southeast of Rayong.
