The variety of Animal Parks and tourist related animal adventures is very broad encompassing Snakes to Tigers and all in between.

Showcased in and around all the major tourist destination in Thailand you will find Aquariums, Crocodiles, Safari Parks, Complete Zoos, Elephant Camps, Tigers, Butterflies, Night Safaris, Reptiles including Snakes and also rehabilitation areas for the likes of Gibbons and of course Elephants.

Beaches & Islands

Beaches & Islands

When it comes to Beaches and Islands, Thailand is the place to visit. Either along the Gulf of Thailand or the Andaman Sea on the west of Thailand you will find some of the most beautiful and relaxing beaches and islands to visit.

The majority of the best islands and beaches are along the southern parts of Thailand on the west and east of the country. On the east you will find gems in and around Koh Samet and Koh Chang. On the west you will find popular tourist destinations such as Phuket, Krabi, Koh Lanta and of course Koh Samui.

Boat Cruises

Boat Cruises

Whether you choose a River Cruise in Bangkok or Chiang Mai, a Sea Kayak adventure or a Islands tour around Phuket, Krabi, Koh Lanta, Koh Samui or Koh Chang, you will have a relaxing time as long as the weather is favourable.

This is why I recommend not doing any island boat tours in the monsoonal months which is generally May to October as the swell picks up and the clarity of the water diminishes.

Elephant Treks

Elephant Treks

Elephants or Changs are of course a major focus of Thailand around the world. You will find Elephant camps and trekking companies located around all main tourist destinations.

The most popular area for interacting them is in the Chiang Mai province in the north where you can also stay at Elephant themed resorts allowing you to join in the washing and feeding during their daily routine. Be sure you have a strong back to handle the elephant treks that pass through hill tribes as there is no real back support in the seat.

Entertainment

Entertainment

From drinking bars with live bands, bars with dance music and bars with themed shows, to adult shows, discotheques, lady boy cabarets plus theme parks and festivals you will never be bored of choice in the 'Land of Smiles'.

Also popular by locals and tourists alike are the Muay Thai boxing matches. Festivals are also a huge part of Thailand annual festivities with the Songkran Water Festival and Loy Krathong being the most popular.

Guided Tours

Guided Tours

One thing you will notice when visiting Thailand and all the major tourist destinations is the amount of packaged guided tours you can choose from. From half day, full day and multiple day tours you will be spoilt for choice. Day tours are highly recommended if you are new to the area to save you from navigating to the destinations yourself.

All guided tours also usually include pickup and drop off from you accommodations, non-alcoholic drinks and a set lunch. If you are on a bus tour the lunch will be at a restaurant near where your activities are for that time of day. For boat cruises you will either have lunch on board or at a restaurant on one of the islands you stop at.

Historical Sites

Historical Sites

The variety of historical sites around the kingdom is diverse.

From the old capital of Ayutthaya to the old regional centres of Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai, to the war ravaged locations of Kanchanaburi and the River Kwai, the diversity is never ending.

Museums are also popular in all major destinations plus very old Buddha caves around the country will have you intrigued for the length of your vacation.

Nature Sites

Nature Sites

Nature sites and Thailand go hand in hand. From very large national parks to naturally carved swimming locations and waterfalls, they are everywhere around the country. After a hard day of shopping or a big night out the night before, a refreshing dip in a waterfall will re-invigorate you for the next 24 hours.

Along with the large amount of waterfalls located all around the country, hot springs are also located in many areas. Be sure to visit the hot springs about 30 minutes south of Krabi city which is conveniently located only 10 minutes from the amazing Emerald Pool. Just heaven on earth!

Palaces

Palaces

There are minor palaces around the country used by the Royal Family for summer and winter retreats, however the major palaces as you would expect are in and around the capital of Bangkok.

The most famous is the Grand Palace in the centre of Bangkok and the Royal Summer Palace at Bang Pa-in just outside of Bangkok. With the Grand Palace you must conform to palace etiquette in that you cannot wear singlets or shorts, but shirts or blouses and at least shorts or pants covering your knees.

Please note that you also cannot wear open toed shoes like sandals or thongs/flip flops.

Relaxation

Relaxation

Welcome to the home of the world renowned Thai Massage and Thai themed Spas. Unless you are going for a foot or head, neck and shoulders massage it is recommend going for the hour or even the more relaxing two hour massage to get the best results. As for health Spa's, you will find one in most four stars and above hotels and resorts and major shopping centres.

All major destinations also offer a wide variety of Thai Cooking schools from one day to one week courses. As for playing Golf, there are many courses mainly situated around Pattaya just to the southeast of Bangkok. Wanting a relaxing dive? Try to visit the island destinations of Koh Samui, Koh Chang and Phuket.

Shopping

Shopping

From high-end shopping centres to small day and night time markets, Thailand has you covered. In all main tourist destinations you will find markets open during the day with a large emphasis on the night time markets which is the best time to shop as sun has gone down and is much cooler.

Haggling or trying to get a discount is only recommended as low-end shopping centres and of course markets. My recommendation is that if you state a price and they do not accept, walk out of the shop. If they do not agree to the price then you are asking for a price lower than their cost price. If you still want the item, go back and offer a slightly higher amount or match their last offer.

Temples

Temples

With over 40,000 temples (Wat's) located in the kingdom, there is always one close by. In fact every village must have one which is why they are so numerous.

Temples are very important to the Thai people as they are used for cremations and also festivities relating to Buddha.

You will find listed the major temples around the major tourist destination listed here. Chiang Mai and also Bangkok actually have the most well-known temples to visit.
